Swim
Comments: This being my first tri, I started at the back and right of the pack. This worked pretty good as I only got run over by a couple of guys that didn't site very well. What would you do differently?: Maybe not site quite as much and keep a quicker pace up. I was pleased with my swim effort. Transition 1
Comments: Terrible T-1. Probably cost me 4th place in my AG. Ran from swim out to transtion area, grabbed helmut and glasses and had trouble getting chin strap to buckle. Never had problem before. Then I got one sock and shoe on easily, but the other sock kept unrolling the wrong way. Finally just unrolled whole sock and put it on. What would you do differently?: Practice putting socks and shoes on more. Bike
Comments: Very nice bike route. I was concerned about pace, but as it turns out, I could have pushed harder and still had enough gas for run. What would you do differently?: Will push harder next time. Transition 2
Comments: Another bad transition. Got bike racked and helmut off quickly and running shoes went on fairly easy. I opened a packet of GU gel and try to get it down as I was heading towards run out. Not sure what happened, but the Gu got stuck in my throat and I had to circle back to rack to get some water to wash the gel down. Thought I was going to lose my breath for a few minutes. This cost me valuable time. What would you do differently?: If I down some Gu at all, I will have water available to wash it down quickly. Run
Comments: Not a good run for me. Still had Gu get stuck in my throat the first mile. This made me lose concentration on my pace, and thus the slow time. What would you do differently?: Concentrat better Post race
Warm down: Walked around visiting with family and friends. Ate about half a burger and an ice cream cone (yummy) What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my first tri. I started training seriously for this about three months ago. Although I am pleased with finishing in a respectful time (for and old coot) I know that I can improve in a number of areas. Event comments: I picked a great event for my first tri and will definitely be back. Jack and Adam folks are first class, all the way. Last updated: 2009-04-11 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:40am and arrived at race site at 6am. Set up trasition and looked around to get bearings.
Walked the swim, bike, and run in's and out's to get familiar with transition area. Then swam about 300 yds warmup to get used to water.
