Swim
Comments: It was next to impossible to swim. I pretty much bobbed, and doggy paddled, and did whatever I could to survive the swim. The good thing- I am no longer afraid of open water swimming! What would you do differently?: Try to swim somehow, not sure. Transition 1
Comments: Should have been faster, but was a little woozy from the waves. Did the best I could. Need to practice getting on and clipped in more on the bike. Bike
Comments: I felt sick while on the bike from the swim (either too much water or just a little seasick, not sure which) and all that aside, I need to spend more time on the bike before Chicago. Transition 2
Comments: This was where my race started to improve, I was in and out pretty quick. What would you do differently?: Again, practice getting off the bike more smoothly and quickly. Run
Comments: I felt great on the run. I was glad I warmed up on the course, I picked out some landmarks to help me determine when it would be good to pick up the speed towards the end. And of course, I managed to end in a full out sprint (downhill finish helped on that). What would you do differently?: Maybe pick up the pace a little earlier. Post race
Warm down: Drink tons of water and gatorade, ate some yummy food, drank a beer, cleaned up transition and rode back to car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training time on bike, weather. Event comments: This was a great race, I would love to do this race again next year! Got there around 5:45am. Walked around, saw the HUGE waves, and then went to set up transition. Walked in and out at each spot so I knew where everything was.
1.5 mile jog, stretch, got into water and attempted to swim to warm-up.
