Run
Comments: Was a great run.....I would guess around 300 people between the 5/10/21 k races. Mass start but not too crowded as it was on a street. Ran pretty hard. Was unbelievably happy to be under 1hr. 10k was 57:11 on the garmin, so the race ran a bit long. But all good. Beat my fastest training time by about 5 minutes so no complaints. I was soo proud of my wife. She finished the 5km in 31:11 which for her was about 3 minutes faster than her PB in training. Not sure of offical rankings but thats fine...It'll be up today. What would you do differently?: Hard to say if I could have gone much faster. Of course, looking back I think I could have pushed the 1st 5km more, but then I may not have had as much left for the last 5km. Splits were 1st 5km-28 min, 2nd 5km-29min, so pretty consistent. Post race
Warm down: Streched a bit, ate some oranges and bananas and then a burger...bad idea on the burger. Picked up the kids and then took them for a swim. It was more like, the wife took the kids to the pool and Daddy sat in the hot tub. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I weigh 200 lbs and not a runner yet. The girl who won finished in just over 39 minutes!! Event comments: Volunteers were good...Just didn't see the 3km sign and 9km sign. Which was fine, trusty Garmin on my wrist!! Had a bagel with PB and honey for breaky. Dropped the kids off at sister-in-laws, picked up the brother in law and drove the 10 minutes to the race. Then had a GU as I through the shoes on.
Ran around a little bit, and calmed down my wife as this was her 1st official race ever.
