Pre-race routine:

Swim
  • 29m 20s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

felt really good on the swim. A bit crowded at start and of course some bumps and kicks. I didnt really draft that much. I was very happy with my swim time but I am sure that I can do better.
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

transition was good. LONG run from water to transition area...200-300 yards at least.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 25s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.77 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great for first 2 miles then I had to use the bathroom. The wind was insane and coming straight in from the North so half of the ride was pretty dificult but on the way back down you could really crank it out. Between the wind and my pain discomfort due to having to use the restroom I really lost concentration and failed to push to my usual average of 22-23 mph. Not too happy with my bike.
Transition 2
  • 03m 28s
Comments:

When i came into T2 i passed my gear twice due to the fact that the guy to the left of me covered all my gear with his towel and his bike was in a different spot so nothing looked familiar, I knew where on the rack i was stationed but when i looked down i never saw my gear...finally found it under his towel, got changed out quickly but still wasted a bunch of time looking for my gear.
Run
  • 55m 5s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good coming out of T2. 1st mile was strong, mile 2 & 3 were a bit rough. Started getting a pain in my right calf and shin that stuck with me for the rest of the run. Mile 4 started picking it up a bit and kicked for the last .75 mile. I have done it faster so looking to improve for next event.

Event comments:

I am happy with my race, I know that I could have done the bike and run faster but I am really just chalking it up to being a noob. I start training again tomorrow and will be killing my time in my next race just a couple weeks away. Had a blast. Some of the best weather we have had all summer. I do love this sport!
