Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 0500 and prepped. Ate some chia seeds and some Jeremy bread with PB. Due to constant injuries with my current shoes, I wore retired shoes, which turned out to be a mistake.
Event warmup:

Walked 3/4 mile from the hotel to the race start.

Comments:

Started out with the 3:10 pace group, but the pacer was horrible. He ran mile 2 in 6:40. I kept with a smaller group pacing around 7:10 until the 1/2 and felt really good. A blister on the ball of my R foot opened up around mile 8. At the 1/2 I hit a wall hard because of the fast 1st half. Ran/walked starting at mile 15. The 2nd half was not fun.

The race crowd was inspirational and amazing. I felt that I was running for something much bigger than myself.

Hit a very cold north wind around mile 17. Never warmed up after that.
What would you do differently?:

More than 1 20 mile run prior to, and for sure a 20 mile run sooner than 2 months before.

Better shoes.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to warm up. Ate like a mad man at the food/beverage area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor traning and bad shoes.

Event comments:

I would like to do the 1/2 every year. This was a great race.
