![]() Swim
Comments: Again, no official time on the individual portions of the race. Finishing the swim was finishing the race. I felt refreshed--it was a great way to start my day. What would you do differently?: Remain calm--don't try to swim hard but steady and focus on easy breathing. ![]() Transition 1
![]() Bike
Comments: I need a lot more experience riding. I have a new road bike, but mid price range so nothing very fancy. Still, I should have been faster than the mountain bikes and some passed me. I am fearful on the downhill riding the brakes all the way down. No confidence on the turns which hurt the back uphill effort. So slow on the uphill that I walked for a bit each time around until my legs recovered. Fell once going so slow I veered into the curb and didn't have time to think about unclipping. Slow, gentle fall. Another woman who was walking her bike helped me up. Did lots of shifting. What would you do differently?: Go in better prepared for uphill climbs and steep downhill slopes. ![]() Transition 2
![]() Run
Comments: Very pleased as I ran straight through for the first time, with the exception of walking for 30s toward the end to work out a twinge in my knee. Disappointed that running the whole thing only seemed to buy me 3 mins. over my last 5K during which I stopped to walk several times and ran very slow due to both knees being very sore. I expected better time, but am still glad I ran the whole thing. What would you do differently?: I expect next time to be in better condition which should improve my run time by default. I have a lot of room for improvement. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ummm...walked around vendor booths eating free fruit and carby stuff. Went grocery shopping on the way home. Napped from noon to 4:00 p.m. with bf (neither of us being used to rising at 4 a.m.) What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of skill, training and experience. Event comments: I'm giving this a high rating because it was my very first triathlon experience and I had a blast. I would highly recommend it as a first time tri for anyone. The short swim in a heated pool makes it much less intimidating. Last updated: 2009-04-14 12:00 AM

I didn't have one. Just figuring out what I was doing.
Well, I ran up to the swimming pool to see what that would be like when I got there. This was a reverse tri so the swimming portion was last.
