Swim
Comments: I can’t believe how bad orientation I have. We had to run with the buoys on our left and I breathe on the right so I was getting lost all the time. At one point, a kayak was chasing me back on track. After a while I figured I would stick to someone who is a better swimmer which worked. The 2nd half was pretty straight a flawless. Still happy since this is a 5 minute improvement from my first HIM in April. What would you do differently?: Find someone to draft off of and stick to him/her. Transition 1
Comments: No wetsuit strippers....I had to pull the suit off myself which was a major pain. Looking at the time, it was not that bad after all. What would you do differently?: Not sure....i guess nothing Bike
Comments: I tried to stick to myplan (avrg 21mil/hr) and not to go too fast. I did the first 30 miles about 21.5mil/hr. but then I realized, I was going against the wind the whole time. The next 26 miles were amazingly fast. And I really held back. I was not pushing too much. I had to stop for a comfort break about 40 miles through. I lost a few minutes on that. Well, better than to suffer in pain. What would you do differently?: Not much. I was riding how i felt. cadance was exactly on the target, speed good, no major exhaustion....great Transition 2
Comments: As usual, I have no clue what i was doing in T2 for such a long time. I guess I'll have to get used to this. Run
Comments: I started off the first 3 miles at about 8min/mile. I tried to slow down a bit because I thought I would burn myself out. So,I did slow down. I think I went a few miles about 8:45. I never walked…only 3-4 times in the aid stations. And then, on mile 6-7, I noticed my overall time was about 4hrs. I realized I could go sub 5 but I still did not believe it. I was waiting for a crash-down but it was not coming. So I picked up the pace on the last 4 miles. I think I was going 7:30 or something like that. Perhaps even 7:00. I couldn’t believe how strong I felt. I could keep on running like this. I did not feel tired at all. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I felt amazing. best run of all times. I think i ran it faster than my 1/2 marathon split at Grandma's. Post race
Warm down: Not much. Some fruits and pancakes. Event comments: I can't be happier. I beat my PB from HIM New Orleans by 51 mins. It is way beyond my wildest dreams. 2nd HIM in my life, after 9 months of training and i am sub-5. I still can't believe it. I feel so mentally ready for what i have been training for hte last year - IMWI. Last updated: 2009-04-14 12:00 AM

Not much. I had two peanut butter sandwiches and a bottle of gatorade. I left Minnetonka at 4;45 but had to return 10 mins through the ride for my goggles. typical. I am never 100% ready.
I got to Chisago city a bit late and had to run around to get everything organized. I was stressing out a bit and was only left with the last few minutes for a quick stretching.
