Pre-race routine:

Flew back from giving a talk in Arizona on the red eye. Landed at 5AM, drove home, made coffee, changed clothes and left
Event warmup:

ran/walked to start, then warmed up in Starbucks, ran some more - total warm up 27 mins. did some hip circles and ankle tilts

Comments:

I stupidly started at the very back, and I should have seeded myself, as I spent the ENTIRE first mile trying to zig zag to be able to actually run.

then with about a half mile to go, I had a good rhythm so moron cuts me off going in to join his girlfriend. arggghhhh
What would you do differently?:

Seed myself appropriately

Warm down:

got my inaugural event medal, water, banana and walked home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the crowds

Event comments:

really did not appreciate how crowded it would be and since I only had 4 hours sleep put myself at the back which was a mistake. Live and learn
