Comments: Always have a tough time with this part of the race. The water was especially choppy today. The waves weren't huge, but it seemed like it took longer than usual to get past the breakers. Getting back to shore was similarly difficult. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive at the start, try to catch someone to draft, more practice in choppy conditions. Transition 1
Comments: Seemed like a pretty quick T1 Bike
Comments: Was hoping to break the 20 mph barrier. Need more practice on hills- that seems to be where I usually get passed. Transition 2
Comments: Again, pretty happy with a quick T2. Forgot to take shoes off during the ride, oh well. What would you do differently?: Take shoes off before entering T2- this is a good course for this as it ends with a nice downhill into transition. Run
Comments: Big time side stitches again. Not sure why this happened, maybe not enough mileage lately? Felt them on the bike, but they really kicked in coming up the hill out of T2. Glad I was able to run the whole thing. Definitely had to push to finish. What would you do differently?: More running Post race
Warm down: Caught up with Becca, had some water and snacks, loaded up and drove back to LA. Didn't stick around long. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hadn't been running much lately Event comments: My second year doing this race. Very well organized, fun course, challenging for a sprint. Always a good crowd, and a unique environment for a triathlon. Missed last year's time by a few seconds, which was a bummer, but hopefully I'll be back next year to beat both times. Got in the water for a few minutes to acclimate to the temperature and waves, which were considerable.
