Run
Comments: Almost recovered from my head cold, but still felt it a bit on race morning. Warmed up and just didn't feel like running fast at all today - nose was running and legs felt slow and heavy. Did some jogging with a few surges and some stretching to loosen up the legs. The first few kms felt good - as always in this race, as it's mostly downhill. Right through 4-5k I was doing good. Between 5k and 8k was the hardest part with a few hills and the lack of speed work starting to show up. I knew I would be strong on the hills and passed a few people on each of them. After 8k I knew the finish was close, tried to relax and run strong to the finish. Put some good distance on those running around me after 9k and passed a few extra people up the last hill. What would you do differently?: Not much, it was more of a training run than a race. Good speed work day. Post race
Warm down: Stretching, drinking some water and talking to my wife and dad. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed work, not treating it as an A race. Event comments: Good race, great atmosphere, SUPER awesome to see so many people out being active and participating in some way. Volunteers were everywhere, it was great! Took West Coast Express train downtown to make the trip easy. Walked around a little and then off to warm up.
Light jogging, a few surges and some light stretching.
