Run
Comments: My goal was to break 20 minutes, I've really worked hard on my workouts but my paces have been off by about 15-20 seconds so I really was not sure about hitting it. I started out feeling good, hit the first mile at 6:11, and that gave me confidence that it might be possible. There were 5 people in front of me, I tried to see who looked like they were fading and go after them. Second mile was 12 something so still OK. One of the runners in front stopped for water so I figured he was hurting, at this point I knew that if I could hold it together I could possibly get 3rd overall, and at worst place in my age group. What would you do differently?: Pushed it a little harder at the end, not loose focus so close to the end. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was one second off my best 5k time ever. Event comments: Love this race, third overall two years in a row:) Last updated: 2009-04-20 12:00 AM

I woke up at 5:30, ate some PB and honey on toast and had a cup of coffee.
Drove down to Oak Island which took about an hour.
I drove the course and got my markers for every 1/2 mile split.
I did a light 1.5 mile run before with some pick-ups.
The race started about 10 minutes late which aggravated me.
