Swim
Comments: This was our first triathlon, and the snaking format for the swim was a challenge. A lot of people (including myself) had not properly estimated their swim times. In addition, some swimmers were not accommodating about passing. In the end, though, I had a blast with the swim. Sadly, my wife did not, as she was caught between a swimmer who refused to let her pass (even though she was much faster) and a swimmer who wouldn't stay off of her. What would you do differently?: We'll have a much better estimate of our swim time (and be better swimmers to boot) next year when we return to Claremore. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: My wife and I resolved to complete this triathlon together, and we stayed together for the entire bike and run. I had a great time on the bike, but she had a tough transition following her frustrating swim. I wish I had timed our first half of the bike to compare to the second half, because I am certain our return was much better. I got her chatting on the bike, and once she started smiling we got a good bit faster. The race officials and police did a great job directing traffic so as not to interfere with the race. Run
Comments: We did it! The big downhill on the return was welcome. Post race
Event comments: This was a very accessible race for beginners. We had a great time and are happy to have completed our first race. We look forward to returning to Claremore next year and killing our time this year. Last updated: 2009-04-20 12:00 AM
