Swim
Comments: Was slightly nervous even though I knew I could cover the distance. It wasn't too crowded so I felt real comfortable and just got into a groove. The trip back in was definitely tough due to fogging goggles and the sun though. What would you do differently?: Buy some anti-fog Transition 1
Comments: Didn't try to rush it, just went for smooth. They wanted us to wear our race bib on the bike too, so I had to throw that on as well. I found it odd though since our bikes had #s on them too... What would you do differently?: Nada - buen hecho. Bike
Comments: Pretty stoked with my average speed considering I felt real under-trained as far as the bike goes. What would you do differently?: Get on the bike more in training. Transition 2
Comments: Took the time to put on socks and my Brooks instead of my Zoot race shoes. The terrain was pretty rugged and I wanted to have the additional support. I think I made a good choice. Run
Comments: It was a hot tough run. I wanted to be under 1 hour, which I did. I passed up more people than passed me, for sure, but couldn't seem to get much faster than 9 min/mi pace. What would you do differently?: Can't change the conditions. I definitely made the right shoe choice, so I can't complain about that. I took a gel with me but didn't eat it. Post race
Warm down: Slammed some water, found a cold beer, walked around a bit to cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Conditions and lack of training Event comments: Ironhead Race Productions puts on a pretty solid race. They've been doing it a while and know what's going on. Last updated: 2009-04-21 12:00 AM

Up at 4:15, cup of coffee and a bagel with peanut butter. Got to registration just about 6. Picked out a good spot, made sure I had all my stuff in place, went #2 for the 3rd time (pre-race diet might need some tweaking). Sipped on some Gatorade and ate about 1/2 a Cliff bar
Didn't warm up one bit. Over time this has been my MO, but I think a short warm up of sorts might work.
