Swim
Comments: Probably should have been more aggressive getting in the water, but I hung out around the middle of the pack to start. Felt really comfortable starting out, with only 80 of us there wasn't too much banging around. I swung out WAYYY too wide going out to the 1st buoy. I wondered why I didn't see too many people, but made sense as I was out so wide. I know that cost me some time, but after that the swim was awesome. What would you do differently?: I was very happy with my swim overall, but that trip out to the first buoy wasn't too good. Was actually quite comfortable out there sighting and felt good in the cold water. Swim was a little slow, I think I could have been quicker, but my plan was really just to surive my 1st OWS. Transition 1
Comments: As it was my first time removing a wetsuit in a race, I think it went ok. Was a little difficult getting it all off, but I think I was being a bit dainty with it. T1 and T2 were both included in overall bike time so approximate. What would you do differently?: Next time, pull that suit off. Don't be so wussy with it. Yank it off!! Bike
Comments: The road was in pretty rough shape after we headed out of town. This was a last minute road course, as the Tri was in a new area and then really had alot of construction going on. So the course ended up going out of town onto some country roads. There were some really tough roads to ride on. Lots of vibrations on the bars. Decent wind as well made it a little difficult, but my plan was to take it reasonably easy on the bike, so I had some left in my legs on the run. What would you do differently?: Not much. Survival. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went fine. I left my shoes on the pedals and rode in the last bit with my feet on the shoes. That was a little different, but I figured I saved a bit of time. What would you do differently?: Remember that when you leave your shoes on the pedals, they drag on the ground when you run into T2.DUH. Run
Comments: Run was okay. Really wanted to make sure I stayed under that 30 minute threshold. I started out a bit slow, so I had to make it up the last coulld of km's. What would you do differently?: Its weird...the last two races, I have felt the same pain on the muscle to the left of my left shin, and my right calf. I could have ran faster as the cardio was there, but it was getting quite sore again. Not sure if I need to stretch them out better or what. Post race
Warm down: Saw Michelle and the girls at the finish line. So grabbed some post race grub..banana's,cookies, and a few suckers for the girls. Weather was getting a little cold, so I figured we'd head out back home shortly. Got the bike and everything packed up and changed. Saw the official results, and got really excited when I was that I made the podium. I thought there were a lot of fast people out there, so I would have been well back. So we ended up staying for the post race lunch(really good lasagne and the works), and staying for the medals. What limited your ability to perform faster: Continue to work on the run. Event comments: Very well organized race. Lots of food, volunteers, etc. I know to some this wouldn't have been such a big deal, but I was so excited when the RD called my name for the medals. To have Michelle and the girls there made it that much better. Now for my 1st Oly in a couple weeks..... Last updated: 2009-04-22 12:00 AM

woke up early had the bagel and PB with a XL Timmy Horton's coffee, and a banana on the ride over....Stayed at my sister's place, so had to pack up the girls and drove over to race.
Checked in,body-marked and entertained the girls. Watched the Olympic girls and guys go off. Saw a guy without a wetsuit go out. The water was 13C(lows 50's F). He made is less than 250m and was brought back in.
Jumped into the water, soaked up the warmth of the water(umm not really) but got ready to go. Pulled a Tracy in the water....mmm felt good!!
