Swim
Comments: Got lined up in the middle about 3 deep. Further back then I wanted to be. Wanted to be in the front row. 100+ people in my wave. First turn buoy was really close so everyone in the wave got there at once. It was a dog pile and UFC fight all in one. Got around ok and made my way through the slower people. Got some clear water and was passing most people. Would draft for a bit but they were all slower then me. Had a good swim otherwise and got out feeling good about the swim. Same swim at Sand Key last fall I was 11mins, so I was faster here. Definitely red-lined my HR during the swim. What would you do differently?: No thing, maybe make sure to get a front row start. Transition 1
Comments: 5th fast T1 of my AG. It was a long run into T1 and then transition is long. Got in, put my helmet on and had a small issue with buckling my helmet, but was off quickly. Running in some girl in the wave before was running out the wrong way with her bike, realized this and turn around just as I ran by and wacked me in the leg with her bike. 2:35 at Sand Key, so a little slower here. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Maybe could have run harder up to T1 Bike
Comments: Bridges were harder then I remember, but still did well. Bike was nice as I was in the second wave and it was not crowded out there. Did well mover the bridges and was holding strong on the flats. Different length then sand key but was almost same average pace. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: 21st in AG, but we were all pretty close. Good flying dismount and run into transition. Racked bike and took helmet off. Got socks on and shoes on pretty easily and grabbed hat and race belt as I was running out. I still need socks or I will blister up all over. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Legs were a bit heavy on the beginning of the run. Did mile 1 in 7:30, hit mile 2 by 15:15. The beginning you come out of transition run in the parking lot until you hit the beach. Then you run over a lot of s soft sand for about 200-300yds. Then its on to trails which it wasn't as packed as I had hoped, so it was really hard on the legs. Had a bit of water on the run and never felt like i was overheating. Saw a few big groups behind me and just tried to not get passed by them. Sand Key was 24:38 on a slightly different course. So better here. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around and got in the shade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing, maybe weight Event comments: They need to re-order the wave start so they are not as crowded. Cut the waves in half and send off every 2 mins instead of 3 mins. Last updated: 2009-04-23 12:00 AM

Got up, had a bagel, packed the car, grabbed my gatorade and headed to the race site. Got bodymarked, got chip, set up transition and went to the bathroom.
Walked to swim start, swam and stretched.
