Age Group = 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 14/
Pre-race routine:

Stayed with what I like best coffee oatmeal and pb little honey and water for the ride up. Had to get up early 5 am to get there on time. It turned out when I got there 15 min left for transition area would have been nice if that was in the packet.
Event warmup:

Run from parking lot to transition area. Then on the sugar sand beach. One of the prettiest beaches to visit not run on as far as the soft sand goes. Water felt great little cool off and finished my second water bottle and gel.
Swim
  • 28m 59s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Should have pushed a little harder on the swim. Coming back sucked because the sun glare made it hard to find the buoys.
What would you do differently?:

Swim harder train harder
Transition 1
  • 05m 15s
Comments:

Took 2 minutes just to get off the beach before I could transition. Sucked down a gel packed shirt and off to the races with bar and two gels.
What would you do differently?:

I am better prepared for next year and the next race.
Bike
  • 1h 15m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.88 mile/hr
Comments:

A lot passing should have just relaxed the same guys I would pass would jockey back in front. It was a good ride.
What would you do differently?:

Not much drank good and ate on the bike almost a full Clif bar. When I am full the liquids come back up.
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Transition good here to much in fuel belt though had to dump a bottle.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, or maybe another gel before I got to hot.
Run
  • 58m 44s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Should have quit watching the hr but was worried I would bonk. slowed down on purpose which almost killed me on the finish which was 2.5 miles on the beach and did not realize I had to run back through the sand to finish. Had enough in me to sprint the end.

What would you do differently?:

Should have ran harder since I was able to sprint. lol
Post race
Warm down:

cooled off with water and walking around. They had a killer spread of food but I ate fruit first then had some real stuff. Not as good as the food the night before with race packet pick up. Actually had an adjustment and a good back stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and my hr made myself slow down on purpose.

Event comments:

Felt better at the end of this then my marathon. Overall it was a great day. Met all the goals and felt good when I finished.

Course: Two loop course with a sharp turn around. paver and poor ashpalt in some but most of the corse was smooth. Two lights had a jerk pull out off side street and a crazy morning bike rider not know he was in the middle of the race. It would have been ok if he didnt try to turn in front of me. BRAKE

Course: Crap first a trail I almost rolled my ankle on dropped a water bottle off of pack turned around to get; then the road which turned into a maze then, finally the lovely siesta Key beach. I hate running in the soft sand reminds me of dive school and Recon school. One gel on the run.
