Total Time = 1h 16m 43s
Overall Rank = 56/482
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/66
Pre-race routine:

Set-up transition. Decided to wear socks for my first tri. Bananas, PowerBar Drink, Water, Balance Bar
Event warmup:

15 minute jog followed by stretching.
Swim
  • 11h 08m
  • 820 yards
  • 1h 20m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Running into the M 25-29 age group made navigation difficult for the last 400 or so.
What would you do differently?:

Enter a triathlon with fewer people.
Transition 1
  • 03m 35s
Comments:

Still had bike tools in my shoes. Ran out of TI with bike shoes on. Tried to jump on bike (flying squirrel?) and seat clicked down a 30 degrees or so. Also knocked chain off. After coming out of the water first, most of my competitors passed me in transition. Frustrating.
What would you do differently?:

Not jump on bike. Have shoes attached to bike ahead of time.
Bike
  • 36m 30s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Thought it went relatively well considering I was sliding down my busted saddle. Race was crowded. Passing was difficult in places.
What would you do differently?:

Not jump on my bike at T1. Stay calm and just turn the wheels.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Dismount line snuck up on me. Didn't get to get out my shoes as planned. Running with the bike was difficult. Getting my running shoes on was easy.
What would you do differently?:

Know the course a little better and remove feet from shoes.
Run
  • 23m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

23:10 is what my watch read for my 5K. On the official results my T2 is an INC and my time was added to my 5K. Course was crowded. Did not take it out fast as I was worried about bonking in my first tri.
What would you do differently?:

Try to settle into my pace a little earlier.
Post race
Warm down:

Short jog. Walk back to parking garage. Stretch later.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Masses of people on all three parts of the race.

Event comments:

Sweet course but would be a much better race with fewer people or more wave spacing.
