Swim
Comments: Drafting isn't the word I would use. I spent 200 yards of the 300 trying to get around a guy who seeded himself to high and even when I was able to put my hand on his left rib cage he would move me into the left. I shouldda grabbed him and pulled him back. What would you do differently?: seed myself super high. be more aggressive passing Transition 1
Comments: My first time starting with the shoes already on the bike. It went well. I can make it faster with practice. What would you do differently?: run through harder Bike
What would you do differently?: Mental toughness. Transition 2
Comments: A little congestion down the lane but it felt good to run past people coming into T2. After trying to put my right shoe on and getting jammed. I pulled it off, shook it, reached in and felt something but couldn't grab it. I slammed the heel down and voila! my missing inhaler. it wasn't a big deal - I was more amused than anything What would you do differently?: Try my shoes (and everything) on before a race. Run
Comments: less than 6 minutes into the run I saw the leader coming back. around 6:20 in I saw newbz. I kept looking for one more guy to pass. I caught 5 or 6 but did not catch 30 people so I am not sure how I went from 40th/42nd pace to 15th overall in the race. What would you do differently?: Take a little time in t2 to make sure my shoes feel good. Post race
Warm down: Donuts, coffee, chatting and a 1.5 hour drive. in the afternoon a ran a couple miles. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental toughness. Insufficient training. Event comments: Did I mention donuts and coffee? Other than a super congested swim the race was great. Last updated: 2009-04-24 12:00 AM
