Run
Comments: I added some extra time for a couple of reasons. I probably would have broken two hours but there were a couple of side tracks. First was around mile 6 where I had to stop for a bathroom break. As much as i was sweating, I was actually a little surprised. Most water and cytomax stations I was drinking the cytomax(trained with it, good plan), and dumped a cup of water in my hat to keep my body temp lower. Next was around mile 9 or so. I stopped, adjusted my race number to my shorts and ran topless the last 4 miles, because at this time it was over 80 degrees and I was having a hard time staying cool. The last thing was in the last mile, I saw another runner being dragged/carried off to the side of the road, looked like heat stroke, so I stopped, did what little I could to help the guy until medics arrived, then started running again. Don't know how much time that added but I would do it again in a heartbeat. No PR is worth ignoring a fellow runner in need when I have the training(not necessarily the supplies) to treat something like that. What would you do differently?: Wear less clothes, plan according to weather, not go out as fast, do longer training runs, and map the course. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed food, water, more cytomax and made my way to the recovery tent where I stretched everything. Hobbled around until I found the gear pickup, called my parents, and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, excess clothing, Event comments: WOuld definitely run this race again. Last updated: 2009-04-25 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0430, got some coffee and a banana on the way to LP field. Had a good solid nights sleep the night before, so I was fairly well rested. Woke up feeling just a tad squeamish, but that worked itself out. Got there ok, got to the start line in plenty of time to walk around and stretch.
Stretched for about twenty good minutes, working some soreness out of my right calf muscle.
