Swim
Comments: Fast pace without red-lining it. Caught the heels of the person in front of me at the end of the final lap just before getting out. Transition 1
Comments: I sprinted through T2, fumbled a bit getting my tic-tac box of e-Caps in my pocket (supposed to be hot and all I had to drink was water), carried my bike on my shoulder with shoes already clipped in, and got a bit winded before I finally got to the mount line. I still managed 2nd in my Age Group and 6th Overall for my T1 time. Bike
Comments: My bike training has been lax this year. Rather than try to push it and red-line, I kept a good steady pace and maintained 105 rpms except on the steeper hills where I geared down and maintained 90 rpms. What would you do differently?: I need to get out with a group at least once a week to build back to 21+ mph. Transition 2
Comments: Very smooth side-saddle dismount and as usually drew a few cheers with the speed at which I hopped off the biked, shouldered it, and took off running. The dismount line was about 25 feet or less after a sharp right hand turn and I lost a bit of momentum there. In addition, I got winded again carrying my bike and actually had to take it off my shoulder, which slowed me down. It showed in my rankings, but they were still strong. I was 8th in my Age Group and 13th overall. Run
Comments: I maintained a steady run pace without red-lining. My core and strength training paid off as I maintained great form right through the finish. My wife said I looked great compared to all my other triathlon finishes. I set a personal PR for a sprint tri run with 24:49 on a more challenging course than my other PR. Post race
Event comments: Extrememly family friendly, great post race food, awesome course layout that allowed my wife and kids (3 & 5 y/o) to move about the course without feeling like they were getting in anyone's way. Last updated: 2009-04-26 12:00 AM
