Swim
Comments: Very crowded for first 2/3 swim - hitting, cramped in. What would you do differently?: Should have been more aggressive at the beginning to get clear and also started out on the outside edge of the swim. Swim itself didn't feel bad - felt ready for it just tactics lacking. Transition 1
Comments: Very pleased with transition. I thought I did well. (Although Danny and Deena were faster but they did the shorter sprint distance.) What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: First lap I started out too slow, again need to be a little more aggressive. I really started to race the second lap and really enjoyed it. What would you do differently?: Need to work on my turning/corners - stop slowing down when I don't need to. Also a little more race aggression would be good. I showed that in the second lap and made up time on my age groupers. Transition 2
Comments: Wasted time with hat and gel - need to think less and move more. What would you do differently?: Think less, move more. Run
Comments: Calves were tight - worried about cramping so first two miles I think were slower but I thought I was running really slowly (10min/miles) and so to find out I was under 9s and on track from my recovery from last year's knee issues was great. I felt comfortable the whole run (although liquid was sloshing in my stomach which was annoying). What would you do differently?: Let my body relax into the run and then try and pick it up more now that I know I can do it. Post race
Warm down: Some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fears about my knees/muscles and not being aggressive enough in race. Event comments: 1st race of the year and a good solid start. Lots of places to improve on my performance but especially pleased that I mentally was in a good place and that I enjoyed racing.
