Pre-race routine:

I just found out about this race a week ago and really hadn't trained to do a duathlon at all. I just figured I would give it a shot and see how I do.
Event warmup:

It was a later race, 10 am, so I didn't really need to get up early which was nice. Just sort of relaxed and took it easy.

Just wanted to take the first 5k easy and finish right around 30 minutes. The first 5k went just as planned.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing here. Of course I would love to have run this faster but based on where I am right now, I am good with this.

I didn't do as well on the bike as I had wanted. This was partially because I hadn't really trained for a du and secondly because it was very windy.

Nothing special here but I noticed that the guy who finished ahead of me by 19 seconds beat me in T2 by 21 seconds. Guess I need to get faster here.

Hung out and talked a bit before the big rains hit.

Lack of training for a duathlon. My large body.

Event comments:

I hadn't really prepared for this race but I thought it would be a good early season warm up. I learned a few things and overall I had a good time. I am glad I did it but I will do some more du specific training before doing another one.
