Overall Rank = 28/200+
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/22
Pre-race routine:

Wake up early, eat whole wheat waffle w/ peanut butter, bottle of water and sip on bottle of gatoraid until race starts.
Event warmup:

I got there early and checked my stuff in, I got a great rack spot and did a little 1/4 mile run to wake up and get the blood flowing. Hopped in the pool and did a few laps to loosen up my shoulders and was ready to go feeling good!!!
Swim
  • 05m 16s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Jumped in and instantly felt slow. I guess I am not swimming enough!! Not happy with the swim at all!!! should have been 4:40ish!
What would you do differently?:

I need to swim more. This off season is killing me
Transition 1
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

I had an average T1. No problems really. Could have been a little faster but not bad.
Bike
  • 45m 6s
  • 14.8 miles
  • 19.69 mile/hr
Comments:

My legs felt dead and I never really got in a groove. Again, I am still not back from knee surgury and a long lazy off season!
What would you do differently?:

I would take it easier at the start and try to warm up and build into the ride.
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Lost a shoe when I hopped off but I was able to grab it easy and keep running.
What would you do differently?:

Try not to kick my shoe off the pedal when I jumped off
Run
  • 27m 33s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was fine, I tried to push it but I am just too heavy right now to run fast and my legs never loosend up. I only was passed 2 times and was basically happy for my first race back.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some pizza and did some stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was limited by 20+ extra lbs from a bad off season and kneed surgery!

Event comments:

This was a good race especially based on all the rain we had the night before. I really just need to keep training to get back into form and race faster.
