Pre-race routine:

Breakfast,English Muffin w/almond butter and jam. Tea with milk. Chatted with the neighbours while waiting for my ride as both of our cars had been broken into that night. Not a great way to start the morning.
Event warmup:

Some stretching to loosen up injury I've been nursing.
Run
  • 4h 25m 26s
  • 42.2 kms
  • 06m 17s  min/km
Comments:

The race was very well organized. Water stations were every 2.5k's, really didn't need to carry a fuel belt. Crowd support was great as were individuals helping out on the course.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, couldn't have predicted an injury at 31k.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Was feeling strong, had time in the bank for my goal of sub 4:15 finish. Just past 31k there was a pop in my right calf (the good one!) and could barely walk for a bit. Began to slowly run and when the offered advil at 33k I was more than happy to take some! Took alot of mental and physical effort to finish. Was worried that if I continued I may mess up my whole summer of running/tri's.

Event comments:

The only downfall that I can see with Mississauga Marathon is that even after the event has been running for 5 years the shirts still suck!
