Swim
Comments: Swim time also includes a pretty lengthy run to transition. Swim started off great. Felt like I was going fast. Got to the first turn and the buoy was really congested. Also, once we rounded the turn, the sun was directly in our eyes and I couldn't see shit! I just followed the people ahead of me. Don't know how the leaders even saw the next buoy. Once I finally reached the second turn, my goggles had started to fill up with water and my left one eventually came loose. I swam using only my right eye for 100 or so and then just finished with my goggles off. Not fun. Probably slowed me a bit, but overall not a bad swim given the circumstances. What would you do differently?: Different goggles. Transition 1
Comments: Not too bad since transition was on a street and really far from one end to the other. What would you do differently?: I really came into the race dedicated to do fast transitions since I know I've been losing time in them. I think I did well enough in T1. Bike
Comments: Excellent ride for me, the problem was that I burnt myself out for the run. I wanted to see what would happen if I rode really hard. I found out. :) Also, the website said the bike would be 11 miles and it was actually 14. What would you do differently?: Save a little more in the gas tank. Transition 2
Comments: TAKE THAT BTICHES!!! Best transition of my life. Finally. Had to be one the fastest of the day. Sucked it up and went without socks. What would you do differently?: Notta. Run
Comments: Like I said, went too hard on the bike and I paid for it here. I still did ok since I'm a strong runner typically. But I think a slower ride could've saved me a lot of time on the run. Oh well, live and learn. What would you do differently?: Slower bike, faster run. Post race
Warm down: Went right back to transition to get my bike and return the borrowed skewer. Then sat around for like 2 hours waiting to get my AG award! What limited your ability to perform faster: Biked too hard. Event comments: I'll be back next year probably. It'll be a huge help to know the course. It was much harder (hillier)than I expected. Up at 5:00, drove to Columbia. Banana, power bar. Had to find a skewer too since I left mine in my trainer like an idiot. Luckily a friendly bike shop came to my rescue and gave a brand me skewer for the race.
Just a short swim...mostly so I could pee in the lake.
