Pre-race routine:

Got up around 6:30. Left Comet's place at 6:45 am. I thought the race started at 8:30am- I didn't the race details closely enough. Ate a 1/2 wheat bagel with peanut butter on it, had a few bites of a bananna.
Event warmup:

Got to the race went to the bathroom. Put my chip on my shoe, attached my number and sat ont he curb. I gave an older man 2 of my safety pins- he forgot to grab some. We chatted for awhile about running- older men LOVE talking to me. I was disappointed that there wasn't a TNT table this year so I wasn't able to meet up with ATree. Went to the car, shed my long sleeved dry fit shirt, had some Powerade and 1/2 Snickers marathon bar. Went othe porta potty, and then waited for the race to start. I thought it starteda t 8:30 but it didn't start until 9:15. I felt stupid once I figured out the start time. I saw some TNT tri friends at the start adnchatted with them until we started. I ran with my friend for about the first 2 miles until he said he was dying and was going to hang back. Then I was pretty much on my own.

Comments:

I started out running the first 2 miles maybe a little too fast, because by mile 4 I was dying. At mile 2 I realized I needed to go the bathroom and thought about that during hte entrie run. I didn't want to stop though because I was trying to beat my time from last year. I was getting pretty thirsty before the first water stop- it was warm running the the sun through the neighborhoods. I didn't wear my visor, which I missed having. When I got to the first water stop, I took my first gel and started feeling a little btter. I took another gel at mile 6ish maybe and that got me through the end. The last few miles flattened out. I didn't feel great when I finished- I think I needed to eat and drink. The miles past by quickly and I didn't get bored on this run. I really enjoyed this race and was pleased with my pace- I was shooting to run an overall pace in the 9:30's and I did that. Accoridng ot my watch my finish time was 1:28:18, but I'm sure my official time is a little more. It was a chip start but open start, so I like to go with my watch time :)
What would you do differently?:

maybe brought my own fluids with me to run with, wore my visor, known what time the race started and planend my pre-race nutrition and hydration better.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some Gatorade, ate a banana, picked up my race t-shirt (which is pretty darn cool) and went back to the finish. Chatted with my freinds briefly and left. Of course hte whole time I had my eyes open for ATree but didn't see him. Stretched a little, talked to another older man- I'm telling you, older men LOVE talking to me, and left. Went back to Comet's to shower, and then we went out ot lucnh at a pizza place nad met Tech Geezer and his wife. Had a great time meeting and talking with them!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not eating within 30 mins. before the race becuase I thought the race started sooner than it did. I was very hungry when the race started- my fault.

Event comments:

It's a nice race and I'll deifnitely run it again next year!
