Run
Comments: I had a really good, strong run. My previous PR was 1:33:34 from the Philly distance run last fall, so I beat that by over 2 min. About half way through, I stared to wonder if I could break 1:30. Unfortunately, I started to fade some, and just missed that goal. I feel confident that with some tapering I would have been able to get sub 1:30. What would you do differently?: If I had really really wanted to race this, I would have tapered more throughout the week. As it was, I did a 1:45/0:45 bike/run brick the day before, so my legs felt pretty dead even before the start of the race. Still, my cardio and fitness is much improved over previous races, so I was able to push to a PR. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and food, and then waited for Be to finish. I got really cold waiting for her in the rain, but was afraid I'd miss her if I waited in the grandstands. What limited your ability to perform faster: High volume tri training for my upcoming hIM, with no taper whatsoever. Event comments: This was a very fun race. I could have done without the rain, which started around mile 9-10 for me. The race was well organized, though they need a better plan for exiting the fairgrounds. All exits cross the course, so at best only a handful of cars get out each time. Last updated: 2009-05-02 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5, brewed some coffee, then drove down to the start. I only live ~7 miles from the start, so it wasn't too bad.
None really. Some mild stretching, just to get the blood flowing. I am NOT a morning person.
