Swim
Comments: I was 3/3 into the water, and by lab 24 I passed both swimmers ahead of me. I think the swim went well What would you do differently?: probably could push a little harder next time, however I was 30s faster in the race than in practice. Transition 1
Comments: I was having major transition issues this race... I guess being the first of the season. I got out to my bike no problem, helmet on, sunglasses on, shoes on. But I totally forgot my race number and was 5 minutes out when I realized I forgot it. Also I put my shoes on and ran my bike to the start line, but then I had a hard time getting my shoes clipped into the pedals. What would you do differently?: I think I need to learn how to have my shoes on the pedals and put my feet in after I am already riding I think. That probably will save me about a minute. Bike
Comments: Aside from the terrible cross wind I think the bike went very well. I pushed hard throughout and I passed a few people and did not get passed by anyone. I couldn't stay in the aerobars all the time though, as the cross wind was too strong and gusting to make me feel rather unsteady. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, I think this went very well. Transition 2
Comments: Again, poor transitioning. I started leaving with my helmet still on. Also I found my race belt and put that on. What would you do differently?: I need to get my head into the game... Run
Comments: I need to mentally toughen up for the run. My legs were not overly tired by the end of the run, however I did stop and walk a few times. I need to push myself harder and I know I can run faster, under 30min. If I had been under 30min I would have been well within the top 10 in my age group. What would you do differently?: Need to do more bricks to toughen up mentally. Post race

I got up had breakfast and electrolyte drink. Got my bike and gear ready and went to the start area. Set up transition, it was early and no race registration was ready yet. Once registration was open I stood in line, then got my number, shirt and a water bottle. Then we had to wait quite a while on the pool deck before starting. The wait was so long I was actually hungry by the start time... I didn't get into the pool until nearly 10 am and had breakfast at 6am. Definitely needed a pre-race snack.
I rode my bike 5 min from the hotel to the start. Just before the swim I did a few warm up strokes.
