Swim
Comments: After passing a guy then he sped up and was hitting my feet adn legs about every stroke. Just alittle annoying. What would you do differently?: The swim I was pretty happy with. I finished a personal best today and that was pretty good. I again need some work because I think it was 3 or 4 lengths that I didn't swim free style, so I have a bit to work on there to finish the whole course freestyle. Transition 1
Comments: It was raining out side and I had my stuff set up under a towel it wasn't my the best transition for me. My shin was wet and I put on a long sleved shirt which was difficult being wet which took some time. What would you do differently?: Should have had my wet/dry towel there to dry off with. Bike
Comments: I started out ok. The course was long and not sure how but it was all up grade it seemed. I thought it was an out and back and it was not. I was getting alittle dicouraged thinking I should be passing some people coming back and never did. We made a big loop and got back to where I recognized a few things and then was close to getting back, so I was ok just tired. Need more time in the saddel. I felt ok I guess my right calve was was crapping on me so I streached it out on a few down strokes. What would you do differently?: Be more prepaired for the bike and know the course or at least look at it. It took me way too long to do this I really need to spend some time getting better on that bike. This was the first time I have ever rode that long but I averaged 15 MPH and that is just not exceptable for me. Transition 2
Comments: Went pretty good I could have shaved off a few seconds I went down the wrong lane into the bike rack area and had to loop around but it wasn't bad. T-2 is ususally pretty smooth for me. I do not use clipless peddles so I alreqady have my running shoes on so all I have to do is ditch my helmet and gloves. What would you do differently?: I spent a few seconds looking for my visor. I didn't need it but took the time to get it. Not much time but again it could have shaved a few seconds if I ever need them. Run
Comments: This distance for me is not hard to do. After the bike my leggs were pretty noodly. I usually cramp in my calves and this time I did not so that was good. My Quads were all cramped up for most of the run which is not normal for me, but I fought throught it. I remember watching a Ironman clip the athlete said at some point throughout the day you rea going to experiance some pain, you just have to fight your way through. Glad I saw that, I mean there was no way I was going to stop, but it was nice to have in the back of my head. What would you do differently?: I am not sure if I tried to stride out if that would have helped. I know when I was running my Quads were tight and I know I ran tight because of it. I just have some overall work to do. Post race
Event comments: This was an ok race. I mean the fact that it was raining and muddy doesn't detract from how I feel about the race. The were organized and did have some help. The course was marked ok. For me mile markers would have been nice to help keeep track of where you are on the course. Not much Post race going on, they had some snack stuff wasn't the worst I've been to but it wasn't the best either. I would go back, and if I am off next year I will.
