Run
Comments: Felt good the whole run pretty much. Spent the first 10 mins trying to get around people. Wasn't until after we were off the Georgia Viaduct that I was able to settle into a good pace. Got with a pretty good group of guys at that point and kept a strong but easily maintainable pace until Stanley Park. Once going into the park, 5 of us got a bit ahead and we were moving pretty strong catching a few people. When we hit the hill at Prospect point (with some Awesome fans!) I moved strong up the hill and left them behind and caught the next few people ahead. When we started the downhill I began to feel some pulling in my achillies and couldn't push too much. Long downhill out of Stanley park was pretty uneventful otherwise. Once we left the park there was about 3-4kms to go and I knew I had enough in me to start pushing a bit faster and picked up the pace. Still ran strong and kept a good cadence and passed people quite far ahead. The last km was a quick one and I had a really good finishing kick with the good crowd cheering us all in. What would you do differently?: Overall I'm happy with the race as I ran strong and comfortable - well within my limits. And managed to set a new PR on the day! So, nothing different since I'm not training for a half marathon. Post race
Warm down: Walking around, eating, talking and some stretching. I wasn't too sore which was nice. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not specifically training to run a half marathon. Event comments: Great race, good food (and LOTS!) and great fan support and aid stations! Last updated: 2009-05-04 12:00 AM

Drove to the race, got a pretty good parking spot and started the walk over. Not too exciting at all!
Light jogging with a few pickups. Legs were feeling pretty good and my stomach was doing okay too.
