Swim
Comments: Felt in control of this race as opposed to the previous Half in New Orleans. This is what I was most happy about...I've only done 3 triathlons before this one: a sprint, an olympic, and the New Orleans 70.3. This was the first time that I have repeated a distance, and there was much less doubt and much more confidence. I wasn't much faster on the swim, but I felt much better and really enjoyed it. What would you do differently?: I need to be careful on the turns...after the last turn buoy, I ended up going too far out to the left. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Work faster...I lost mental focus on the run in New Orleans, so I wanted to give myself time to refocus in transition. Bike
Comments: This was the most completely flat course ever! There were only a couple of horses though and no cows. I really need to find a race course where I can see animals as this is my favorite part about riding. The first hour was good, I lost focus and was bored in the middle hour, and then regained focus in the last hour. I felt strong at the end and started pushing my pace visualizing myself as Ms. Pacman gobbling up the riders in front of me..I probably passed 10-15 people in the last 15 miles. What would you do differently?: I should try to have more focus and push a bit of a stronger gear. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I took my time to let my legs loosen. I need to stretch better at end of bike. Run
Comments: The best part of the run was there there were aid stations every mile and then had a variety of food and cold, wet towels. That was the best! I would grab an ice cold towel and wrap it around my neck then run to the next station. I was awesome! I tried to keep my HR under 160 in an effort to run the whole race. I had to walk quite a bit in New Orleans and was looking to improve on this. I kept a steady pace and felt good. The towels were the key though! What would you do differently?: Maybe push a bit harder in the beginning. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably fatigue and lack of leg muscle strength. I will have to improve on these things dramatically for Wisconsin. Event comments: I'm very pleased that I beat myself by over 25 minutes from my last Half Iron last month. Confidence and experience made the difference. Last updated: 2009-05-05 12:00 AM

This was a bit rushed and I worked Friday and then we drove to White Lake to packet pick-up.
None. I just tried to be sure to be inteh game mentally. Talked with Rachel about which one of us would be slower on the swim!
