Swim
Comments: I shouldn't have expected any better due to just not getting as much swim volume as I desired. 3 weeks prior to race a took a spill while running and ended up with an Intercostal Muscle Strain on my left side. Swimming aggravated it so hence not much swimming. I felt like I had no endurance during the swim. That being said, I was 47 seconds faster than last year and my fastest OWS swim by 28 seconds. So, there is hope! What would you do differently?: Again...same story...more swim volume Transition 1
Comments: I haven't tried the whole pedals clipped in start and not sure I will. I was close to the 90th percentile for T1 time so I am pretty happy with that. What would you do differently?: Had a bit of trouble getting into my shoes, if I am going to keep doing these races I really should get a pair of tri cycling shoes instead of pure cycling shoes. The clip system on my shoes costs me probably about 10 seconds. Bike
Comments: Little disapointed with this leg. I felt tired on the bike and subsequent run. Hills were tougher than I remembered from last year. Also got stuck behind a trailer at one point slowing me down as well. What would you do differently?: More time in the saddle. Transition 2
Comments: Big improvement over last year's time of 1:44. What would you do differently?: Just be faster. Run
Comments: Again, I felt tired. Started feeling better in last half mile, but was probably just adrenaline and knowing I was in the home stretch. Post race
Warm down: Lots of fluids, banana & pizza with some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think the workout on Friday (low level sprinkled in with high intensity and the couple of long walks on Saturday were detrimental. Event comments: More consistent training in the weeks leading up to the race and a better race week strategy should have resulted in a better overall time. I had fun but was dissapointed with the end outcome. Last updated: 2009-05-05 12:00 AM

Woke up, made some coffee, got gear in car and ate a Cliff Builder Bar on the way to th erace (about a 40 minute drive). Felt dizzy all through the morning. No idea what was going on there.
Arrived at race, registered, set up transition area, ate a granola bar and 15 minutes before race a GU Roctane.
Swam about 25M, nothing special.
