Swim
Comments: This swim was ridiculous- one of the hardest things I have ever done. The waves on the way out to the bouy made it seem like I was not making any forward progress. Despite how rough it felt, though, I was in the top 3 for my wave and passed several people from the wave ahead of me. What would you do differently?: More beach swimming, in all kinds of conditions Transition 1
Comments: Transition times are not available for the race, but it was way too slow. I was just beat after the swim and definitely took my time. What would you do differently?: Move faster! I think I had set things up well, but I just moved slowly! Bike
Comments: I definitely could have pushed it harder, a lot harder on the bike. After the swim, I was just worried about burning out and not making the run! I was pretty wimpy on the bike. What would you do differently?: Pushed it a bit. Probably taken a gel at the beginning on the bike instead of the end, since my stomach was growling before even going into the water Transition 2
Comments: I dumped the bike on the dismount and ended up on the ground. Otherwise, this transition was easy since I did not have to change shoes. What would you do differently?: Not dumped the bike! Run
Comments: Like the bike, I went a bit easy on the bike. I even walked for a bit at the turnaround. What would you do differently?: Just pushed it a bit more. Also, I had a jacket on for the bike that I forgot to take off before the run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: weather, a tough start with the swim, not enough bike training! Event comments: Weather put a bit of a damper on this, but since it was my first tri, I don't have much to compare. Total time of 1:27 was about 12 minutes slower than my goal, but overall, I had a great time and can't wait until next season! Last updated: 2009-05-05 12:00 AM

Woke up early, had packed my bag the night before, so just had to get dressed and eat breakfast- English muffin with a little peanut butter, bananas and honey. Left the house around 8, was at the beach around 9- had already picked up the packet, so just kind of hung around until it was time to set up transition. Race start time was suppose to be 12, so at about 10:30 had a snack of almonds, craisins and m&ms.
Got into the water too feel the temp and really judge the size of the waves. Swam a bit to warm up.
