Total Time = 5h 46m 18s
Overall Rank = 62/129
Age Group = M20-24
Age Group Rank = 6/6
Pre-race routine:

Ate some breakfast, set up transition, applied bug spray about 1000000 times (mosquitos were gigantic and everywhere)
Event warmup:

Rode the bike around a little bit
Swim
  • 32m 23s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started swallowing a lot of water on the second lap after colliding with a couple people. Felt good though I think I managed to hold a good clip at this distance, very happy with the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Navigate a little better
Transition 1
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

Took my time and still managed to put a pretty good T1 time up. Wetsuit got stuck on the feet but not too bad. Mounted pretty decently too, first time mounting in a race with the shoes on the bike still.
What would you do differently?:

More practice with the wetsuit removal and mounting.
Bike
  • 2h 54m 57s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.21 mile/hr
Comments:

Once I got on the bike I started having some GI issues, not sure from what exactly. Couldn't have anything except for water on the bike. I felt like I did very well on this course averaging 19mph which I thought was going to be a struggle. Spent time on the majority of the downhills trying to recover a bit and hammered the hills, worked very well, passed people going up hill and managed to hold them off on the downhills (excpet for a few that were a little bigger than me).
What would you do differently?:

Change my breakfast or not swallow water on the swim, the lack of nutrition would hurt me later, don't believe it effected my bike at all though.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Took my time again and had a good time again. Stretched the legs real quick and was off. No complaints on this.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 2h 16m 37s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

This hurt a lot. Definitely finding that running is my weakness. The lack of nutrition during the race hurt this leg a lot. Was able to finally start putting some stuff in the stomach at around mile 5 but by then it was too late, the damage was already done. Somehow found some energy to finish the last mile strong.
What would you do differently?:

No more GI problems!! Need more nutrition big time, was actually feeling hungry by the end of the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, laying in the grass, stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No nutrition on the bike hurt the run.

Event comments:

Good race, the course was challenging but not too hard. It was relentless right from the beginning and didn't let up. Tested me physically and mentally the whole time.
