Swim
Comments: The swim sucked. My warm up wasn't enough and I wasn't breathing enough went from breathing every third stroke to every other stroke and that made a huge difference. What would you do differently?: Try to warmup a lot more and time it to within a minute or two of my start. Transition 1
Comments: My shoes wouldn't stay velcroed shut. Bike computer wasn't reading speed as I was running out of T1, stopped to adjust it twice. What would you do differently?: I need to get newer shoes for racing in. The velcro on my current shoes is toast. Bike
Comments: Good day on the bike. I threw my chain at about mile four, lost maybe 15 seconde there. Tried to eat and drink as much as I could without feeling bogged down. Felt like I was going either 30-40mph or 5 mph, with all the ups and downs. Course never really felt flat. What would you do differently?: MAybe push the hills a little harder. Try not to relax so much on the flats, I think I could of got an extra mile or two per hour on some of the longer flats, and down hills. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Left sock was a little slow but everything else went really good. Run
Comments: Ran purely off of heart rate and effort. Never really looked at split times. Ran my race and kept it fairly conservative for the first four miles. Post race
Warm down: Ate everything I could get my hands on. Tried to walk around as much as possible. What limited your ability to perform faster: Crappy swim, dropping my chain. Event comments: Great well put together race. Getting down to transition is a pain in the butt. The race is well supported with tons of aid stations and really good volunteers. Ate a banana. Drank a bottle of Heed. Rode down to transition, racked my back and set up all my gear. Walked around a bit and made sure I knew which way everything was going, swim to bike, bike to run etc.
Got in the water about 15 minutes before my wave start. Swam for about ten minutes. Got in the back of my wave knowing I would get passed by the faster swimmers.
