Swim
Comments: Very good swim, watched my breathing. Probably could have done it without a wetsuit and dropped a few seconds. The pressure on my shoulders, when reaching forward, from the wetsuit was a little uncomfortable, possibly didn't pull it up far enough. What would you do differently?: Wetsuit juice (or whatever they call it) to get positioned in it a little better. Starting closer to the front of the pack, I had to pass too many people that faded quickly. Transition 1
Comments: Again, lousy T1. What would you do differently?: Wear Tri-shirt under wetsuit. Don't use socks. Use Suit juice to peel the darn thing off a little quicker. Bike
Comments: Took this too slowly. Missed the Miller road turn due to a cop waving his hands in the wrong direction and lost a few seconds doubling back. Road was awesome for riding. Used my new QR Caliente Tri bike and it moved like I was floating compared to my road bike. Bike position felt good but not great. What would you do differently?: Study the map better, lost about 30-45 seconds doubling back because of the cop waving his hands around (I feel sorry for the 4 guys WAY out in front of me that kept going, I wonder how long it took them to realize they weren't on the correct route anymore). Another reason to question authority I guess.... Don't drink as much near the end, I had cramps on the run because of it. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2, slipped a little with my road shoes on while running to the rack and almost wiped out. Run
Comments: Terrible run. Started great but 1/2 mile into it a side cramp (and I've had side cramps before and this was a NASTY one) was slowing me down considerably. Took water at teh village hall to see if I could burp it out and that helped a little but stayed with me through the rest of the run. What would you do differently?: Not drink as much on the tail end of the bike. Post race
Warm down: The Panera Bread food spread was awesome, lots of fruits and a recovery drink. Event comments: Would have gotten a 5 if it weren't for the misinformed cop waving people in the worn direction, all the other volunteers were awesome! For the money this one can't be beat, it was tons of fun and close to home. Last updated: 2009-05-06 12:00 AM
