![]() Swim
Comments: I can't swim worth a darn and my time showed it. Good thing it was only 250m. What would you do differently?: Learn to swim ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Took some extra time in T1 because it was still chilly and I had to put on a windproof cycling jacket. Still took too long, though. What would you do differently?: Move faster ![]() Bike
Comments: Not my best effort, I should have averaged 18mph or more. Don't know why I was so slow unless it was the unexpected hills. What would you do differently?: Not sure what I would change except just work a little harder. I think I got to the end of the course a lot sooner than I was expecting. Needed to view this as a true sprint. Heck, it was only 10 miles. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Little slow because I had to peel off the cycling jacket. What would you do differently?: Nothing. If I hadn't had to deal with the jacket, I would have been out of there 20-30 seconds faster. ![]() Run
Comments: No problems on the run. For the first time, my back wasn't hurting me off the bike, probably because it was only a 10-mile ride. Pace was slow, though. Note to self, Run More! What would you do differently?: I need to put in more training miles on foot. My pace was too slow. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Didn't do much. I considered the slow run as my warm down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough running training, being unable to swim, and not hammering the bike hard enough. Event comments: This is a great first triathlon for anyone that wants to get a taste. Last updated: 2009-05-07 12:00 AM

Nothing special. Had a bit of anxiety while getting my transition set up and generally getting ready when I realized my timing chip was missing. I retraced my steps in the dark around the race site including all the way back to the car and couldn't find it. Eventually, the sun came up enough for me to spot it on the ground in the body marking area. It had fallen through one of the ventilation slots in my bike helmet.
Didn't really do much warming up other than a little stretching and short jogs around the race site.
