Run
Comments: Okay, so I am last in my age group and 164/172 on the first run, but it was a pb for 5km by 1.15 mins - totally ecstatic. Kept on shoulder of club mate for most of the leg - great for pacing. Transition 1
Comments: Legs were a little fatigued so my transition and bike mounting were a little ragged. What would you do differently?: Practise! Bike
Comments: Hey - out of last place in age group (at least for one leg). A small victory. Love the bike leg, and although I'm a back marker, was able to catch a few of the runners who were in front of me. What would you do differently?: More training on bike (be more discipled with windtrainer). Running training has paid of big time. Can't wait for longer daylight hours to get out on bike more. Transition 2
Comments: Much better transition this time around. Beat the cyclist in front of me out into final run. What would you do differently?: Practice getting out of shoes while riding. Run
Comments: Really pleased I was able to hold a 5min/km pace. Hung tough to the finish. Was only passed by one person (not that there were many behind me :-) What would you do differently?: No much to change. Determined to keep up extra running training and building endurace with maintaining form. Post race
Warm down: Stretches, massage. Catch up with friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was just about as fast as I could go. Event comments: Well run event. Nice course. Great result for me personally. Hanging out for next one. Last updated: 2005-08-01 12:00 AM

Considering this was my first sprint duathlon I wasn't too nervous.
Arrived nice and early. Registered and received goody bag - it weighed a ton; always a good sign!
Found club members.
Stretched and did 800m job for warmup. Was testing gels for this race, so took pb gel 5 mins before race. (Other gel was mixed with a little water and put on bike).
