Swim
Comments: The swim out to the bouy was pretty long and the waves were fairly strong. I had to swim with my head up to watch for the waves in order to dive under them. At one point I had to stop and take off my goggles to tighten them. I was worried about them coming off from the waves. The best part was swimming parallel to shore, but this part was the shortest distance. It was tough to sight the balloons on shore. What would you do differently?: Make sure my goggles are tighter. I could have gone harder. Transition 1
Comments: Took too long. Ran down the wrong aisle of bikes. I honestly thought for a minute that someone took my bike. I was careful to note the number of my rack before the race, but I still ran down the wrong aisle...dork! What would you do differently?: Next time I will remove my cap as I exit the water. I didn't because I wanted it on for the photo. ha ha! Also, I would run with my bike to the mounting area. Bike
Comments: I was smiling like a big giant geek the entire first 8 miles or so. I was so excited to be out there. When I got to the turn around I hollered and whooped it up for the guys working the water table. The second half of the ride I just wanted to get to the run portion so that I could get off of my seat. It was starting to be pretty painful. What would you do differently?: Go harder. I had more in me, but I was worried about dying before I got to the run. Transition 2
Comments: Felt pretty quick. What would you do differently?: Next time I will unclip my helmet as I run to rack my bike. Run
Comments: I ran very slow, but I expected to. I was excited that I didn't have a stomach ache. I used the water at each station to dump on my head and shirt. It was pretty hot. What would you do differently?: Run faster. I had way too much energy to sprint at the end. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Fear that if I pushed too hard I wouldn't be able to complete the whole thing. Event comments: Going to do it next year and going to do even better!!! Last updated: 2009-05-11 12:00 AM

Got up at 5am and drove the 45 min. drive to the race. Walked down to the transition area and set up my bike. I was unable to meet back up with my husband and he had my gatorade and breakfast (banana and peanut butter) so I was worried that I would run out of steam during the race.
