Pre-race routine:

Fell asleep late probably because of anxiety (this was my first tri). Woke up early, had eggs, bagel with peanut butter, water and coffee.
Event warmup:

Probably not enough. Didn't really ride the bike much other than to check the gears. Ran for a few minutes and swam for a few as well.

Try to ignore the people around me. I know it's hard to do but once I did I got into a groove.

I was most disappointed with the bike. I was passed several times but for the most part they were people with really nice bikes and belonged to tri clubs. One thing I was aware of was the gears they were riding in and I tried to learn from that.
What would you do differently?:

Train harder on the bike and get a professional bike fitting.

Cramped up twice right at the start, so I stopped to stretch. One guy passed me and told me "it will go away", and 5 feet later he said "tomorrow". I thought that was funny. I blew passed him though about a half mile later.
What would you do differently?:

This pace is really slow for me, but I think I was hesitant because I cramped so early. So maybe I should drink more.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nerves. I think I need a bike fitting. Figure out how not to get calf cramps.

Event comments:

I thought this was a nice race, especially because it was my first. I'd do this again for sure.
