Event warmup:

Overslept that morning, so was later than I'd like, and helped a friend set up their transition area (his first ever race), therefore, no warm-up. I barely had my suit on before the swim started.
Swim
  • 30m 23s
  • 1408 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

About halfway through the swim was when it hit me that I was TIRED and that racing was probably a stupid idea (having done the Timberman 70.3 the weekend before). But I just tried to stay steady and to bilateral breathing so I could glide a little more. I had no strength in my L arm - I really need to get my shoulder injury taken care of before next year. Drifted a little on the final straightaway, or could have been a little faster.
What would you do differently?:

Not do a half Iron the weekend before!! Fix my shoulder so that I can swim straight when I get tired
Transition 1
  • 04m 14s
Comments:

There was a little bit of a run up from the water, but still that was a fairly ridiculous swim time. Not sure why I was so slow
What would you do differently?:

Rinse/dry off feet. Didn't have any water in my bottle and forgot to take my extra towel out of my bike, so just bypassed that step and carried on.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 37s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 17.66 mile/hr
Comments:

As soon as I got on the bike, I wanted OFF! I just didn't feel right. Felt like I was pedaling funny, my feet were both asleep within a few miles and no amount of wiggling my toes was waking them up. I was pushing as hard as I could, and there were times in the flat sections that I could only muster up 14 mph! I was just tired. Ended up with the same pace as I had at Timberman (that had 31 more miles!) Also, back was killing me. There was a crash, so we had to slow down a little (turned out to be a friend of mine) and then it rained, so had to be a little cautious on the turns.
What would you do differently?:

Not take a week off from the bike, work on core.
Transition 2
  • 03m 8s
Comments:

Was dizzy. Had vomited a little on the bike, and just felt sick. Really wanted to lay down more than I wanted to head out for a 6 mile run!
Run
  • 58m
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Was super tired at beginning of run, but started to feel stronger as the race went on (as evidence by my negative splits). Thought that I would walk the hill near the end, but felt strong when I got to it, so ran up. Finished at a good pace.
Post race
Event comments:

Would like to do this one again when I'm rested. However, even though I was pretty tired, I really enjoyed it.
