Pre-race routine:

Woke up to Lisa and Jacki and their banter. Good energy in the house. I'm still not a morning person. Slept good once I got to bed. Had yogart, banana, bagel with peanut butter at 5:30AM. 8 am start. Hydrated all week. Banana 30 minutes before start.
Event warmup:

no major warmup. Visited with my family kept my mind off of being anxious. Waded in water to get used to temp. and did about 10 strokes.
Swim
  • 15m 27s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Took awhile to get moving. Was very anxious and my breathing was off in the beginning, got it under control by the first turn. Got kicked around a bit but nothing that I didn't expect. Felt better then I thought that I would.
What would you do differently?:

Remember to put goggles on before I get in water! :)
Transition 1
  • 06m 2s
Comments:

was tired, out of breath from swim. Long run over rocky, sandy terrain. Not ready for that. Threw on shorts, socks and shoes. Then helmet and off with my bike.
What would you do differently?:

organize a little better. smaller towel
Bike
  • 47m 34s
  • 12 miles
  • 15.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Took awile to get shoes clipped in. Went slow at beginning to keep energy for hills. Psyched when I made it up the first portion of hill when during practices I had to walk up. Enjoyed the downhills, no brakes. It was a nice ride. Said hi to the lammas and headed towards the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Practice clipping in, so it goes smoothly
Transition 2
  • 02m 26s
Comments:

Legs were so heavy when I got off bike. Very tired legs. Bite of banana. Threw off bike shoes and but on sneakers. Grabbed my Ipod. I know that is against the rules but I had to.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to get my feet out of my shoes while still clipped in.
Run
  • 30m 44s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 10m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were so tired.Walked most hills and took advantage of the downhill. I know that I could have done better but didn't have the mentality to keep me moving at a better pace

What would you do differently?:

More brick workouts to get used to run after bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Hydrate and some stretches.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

tired legs during run. and also inexperience in Tri racing.

Event comments:

It was a great race for my first Tri. I now have Tri fever.
