Swim
Comments: For some reason I was pulling the lead group but missed the turn buoy while everyone else didn't, I ended up going about 10 yards too far. Not a huge deal, but probably cost me 5-10 seconds by the time I turned around and got back on the feet of those that made the turn. What would you do differently?: Just see where I am a little sooner. First open water swim of the year. Transition 1
Comments: I put my socks on because of the cold, where I normally wait till T2 to do that for the run. . . Overall, I was happy with my T1 time. Getting the full sleeve wetsuit off did take a bit of work. Bike
Comments: The lead guy passed me coming out of transition, I passed him shortly and then he passed me again, he put about 12-15 seconds on me in the bike, but I never lost sight of him. I tried to catch him, but never did. come to find out he is an ex-pro and at short course nonetheless. Transition 2
Comments: Decent transition. Happy with it overall. Run
Comments: I am pleased with my run. I was passed by 3 guys (and never could catch the guy in front) but last year I think I was passed by 12 guys. I was able to hold a decent pace and even tried to fight off the 4th place guy but just didn't have it in me. Happy with my overall run time. Still improvement to be made, but I have come a long way. Post race
Warm down: Did a 4 mile cool down jog. What limited your ability to perform faster: Stupid swim. . . :) Event comments: I only give this race an average listing, because come to find out (never was mentioned before) that if you were in the opening wave (or the "elite" wave then you were not eligible for age group awards). . . Huh? This was a first. I don't mind that, but at least put it in print somewhere so we know beforehand. Last updated: 2009-05-14 12:00 AM

Just got transition set up and tried to stay warm. The talk before the race was "who is wearing what and how much to wear". Air temp before the race was 42 degrees. They said water temp was 52 degrees, but after jumping in, I bet it was more like 64 degrees or so.
Did a ride of the bike course and froze to death.
7:30 Start time.
