Swim
Comments: I had a very good swim, probably shoiuld have been in a different heat, but I had know idea what iwas going to swim when I signed up 3 months ago. For the first time I was the one passing other swimmers, it felt good. I was very tired at the end of the swim. Transition 1
Comments: transition went quick, I was very happy. Bike
Comments: The bike started out well riding fast and hard on every lap. Tried to take a gel, that doesn't work so well with a sprint race. On the second lap I did get to see my friend Donna on the bike, she was doing great. Cheered each other on as I went passed her. She looked and sounded like she was having fun. Unfortunately the end of my bike was terrible. I was having troubles getting into my big ring on numerous occasions on the fourth lap. The worse part came with about 300m to go before T2. I had taken my feet out of my shoes when my bike came to a dead stop. I got off my bike to see that my rear wheel had come off. I was very frusturated as I had know idea what had happened I just started to run to transition. I lost a couple minutes on my bike because of this I was very upset about it. Both T1 and T2 time counted against the bike time aswell so my time and average are quite different. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was quite interesting, first I was not happy with the bike then there was 4 people standing in the way of the racks. Where I needed to be, they did not move out of the way right away. I managed to put my bike in the wrong spot. The unfortunate part was they were laughing about it. Managed to get into my spot and put my feet in my runners and took off out of transition. Run
Comments: My run went extremely well considering I thought my day was done. I just went out and tried to run as quick as I could run. I found a nice pace right a way and just stuck to it. I thought I ran around 19 minutes. I was very impressed with the result. Post race
Event comments: I am overall happy with the race today considering I did the 1/2 iron last weekend and picked up a sinus cold halfway through the week. Sprint races are alot tougher than they look, yes they may be shorter, but you have to compete at much faster pace. I will definately think about this race again in the future. I was able to get a bike mechanic to look at my bike after the race. There was some good news out of it after all. The only thing that was wrong, was that I broke my rear quick release. More importantly is that it won't cost much to fix it just a new one. Frame and deraileur were not harmed in the incinident. Last updated: 2009-05-14 12:00 AM

Up later than normal, kind of weird to wake up in my own bed on a race day. This is the first time I have had the chance to stay home the night before a triathlon. It was great. The mornining came and as normal I ate a powerbar and 2 bananas.
Warm up was quite different, I didn't need to rush to the swim I had time to get ready and do a warm up. Easy 10min jog. Got to love the late morning starts.
