Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:15 and left for the Boulder at 5:30. Ate a banana, Clif bar, and Smart Water for breakfest.
Event warmup:

No real running warm up. Too much time spent waiting in line for port-a-potties. :) Stretched while in wave formation.
Run

  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I really started out faster than I wanted but since this was the first time I have ever done something like this. Next year I think I will be a lot less anxious and will perform better. I started to bonk on the last mile, not sure if it was mental or physical. Need to get a better mind set. I was thinking negatively for a good portion of the race.

Splits:
1-9:28:81
2-10:33:53
3-11:12:24
4-10:58:96
5-10:25:12
5-10:48:62

What would you do differently?:

Do a short run before the actual start. Eat more before the race. Need to work on some speed work and fundamentals.

Also I think coming back to altitude from Portland might have made it difficult. I was running a consistent sub 10 min mile before this race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked out of stadium. Drank a couple of bottles of water until my heart rate was around 130. Stretched for about 5 minutes and walked to the buses to get back to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor breakfest, re-adjusting to altitude from sea-level, general unknown since this is the first time I have ever done a race.

Event comments:

I had a great time. Hopefully next year I will have planned better and will have more time to checkout the grounds after the event to see the sponsors.
