Pre-race routine:

pbj and water ~1 hour before race start. sit in car watching pouring rain.

Comments:

warmup can'x by rain (was going to park at friend's house and run to race start). legs warmed up well after my charge through the giant puddle at the starting line. finally understood the "hometown advantage" mental boost. very hilly course for the area but i used that to pick up my pace. i run faster up hills than on flats. great kick for last 0.2 miles. overall happy with fun run. i said thank you to every state trooper and police officer helping out. it was my only goal :)
What would you do differently?:

not pay for a 6.2 mile race in my hometown. cupcakes were good, but i could run from my house to main street and buy a bigger cupcake for less money.
Post race
Warm down:

walk back to NMC stadium for post-race cupcake and to say hi to Fleet Feet booth.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my lack of speed work and consistent training for the last two months.

Event comments:

course missed out on some of the best parts of annapolis. adding the usna bridge gave a good view, but continuous uphills for 4 miles seemed to be a little rough on most of the crowd.

Course: around NMC stadium, down taylor ave, past gate 8, over USNA bridge (ugh), up oh-sh!t hill and rt.2 to beginning of B&A trail, turnaround for 10K ~ 4.5 miles (half mary continued down B&A for their turnaround), down rt. 2 and end under USNA bridge @ park.
