Age Group Rank = 4/35
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:40am and walked the dogs. I had a Muscle Milk shake, a bagel with jam and a cup of coffee. Headed out at 5:50am to get to the race.
Event warmup:

None. I swam about 75yds once I got in the water.
Swim
  • 29m 26s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

I did not bring my wetsuit thinking it would not be legal. Cost me.
The 1st part was not good I was to concerned with looking where I was going and not getting kicked, so I just never got in a rythym or swam very well. I tried to strtch it out a little after than and actually swim normally. I also started to sight people instead of bouys and I started to swim a little better. Still not translating what I do in the pool to OWS.
What would you do differently?:

Bring a wetsuit when you can wear one.
Transition 1
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

T1 could have been quicker. It was a pretty long run from the water. I put my shoes on in transition and that could have gone quicker, but overall not much to report.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe learn to keep shoes clipped to bike.
Bike
  • 1h 06m 24s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 22.45 mile/hr
Comments:

I used the powermeter for the 1st time. I think I rode pretty consistant. I did think I had burnt too many matches early on at one point at about 17mi, but it was just a slightly rough patch and I finished up well.
What would you do differently?:

I need to train more. I have hardly any miles in my legs and endurance was starting to get iffy towards end.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I thought it was a pretty snappy T2
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 38m 13s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

I had planned on running slow because of my calf and about zero training. I never really got my legs under me except on the slight downs. I had to work on the ups. I ran alot quicker than I expected and also than I thought I was going. I ran the last mile pretty hard. I would guess it was at sub 6 pace.
What would you do differently?:

Stay injury free and train. I have no running behind me.
Post race
Warm down:

nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not having my wetsuit and also only be able to average 6mi/week for the last 7 weeks.

Event comments:

Nice area to race. The post race stuff was below average compared to what I saw at White Lake Sprint 2 that the same company puts on.
