Overall Rank = 189/400
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 13/33
Pre-race routine:

Lots of breathing exercises - my throat was tight and my hr was high very early on.
Event warmup:

Light swim, stretching, more breathing exercises
Swim
  • 10m 5s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 01s / 100 meters
Comments:

a really good strong swim. I had my wave leader in my sights the whole way.
What would you do differently?:

nothing...this was a good swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 15s
Comments:

Had trouble with my helmet - one of the side straps came undone three times before I gave up. My hr was 193 when I arrived at my bike, so I took a little bit of extra time trying to get it under control
What would you do differently?:

I need a new helmet.
Bike
  • 49m 50s
  • 14 miles
  • 16.86 mile/hr
Comments:

A nice solid bike ride considering my weight and breathing difficulty. I was generally pleased.
What would you do differently?:

I need more time in the saddle and less weight. All in due time!
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

A pretty smooth transition overall
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 29m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Considering where my hr was, this was a good run. I picked a solid do-able pace and maintained it to the last 1/2 mile, and then pushed the pace through the finish. This was a smart run for me considering my hr struggles.
What would you do differently?:

given the circumstances, nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

walking, light stretching, lots of water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

tight throat which created breathing difficulties and high hr, plus my weight, as usual.

Event comments:

This is one of my favorite races of the year. It's an ideal location, well organized, and a fun venue to race. I like the smaller races anyway - not the mass chaos and stress of some of the larger ones. A great way to spend a morning!
