Run
Comments: Started off a little fast, slowed down in middle to conserve energy, marines cheered us on the last mile, made me enjoy the push. 7:50 1st mile; 8:02 2nd mile; 8:18 3rd mile; 8:29 4th mile; 8:28 5th mile; 8:33 6th mile; 2:01 last 0.2 mi (up hill) to finish. Place: Overall 671/5370; Men: 485/2048; Age Group 38/185 What would you do differently?: Don't get too excited at the start. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, water, plenty of free organic food and McCafe. In-home massage from the wife :-) What limited your ability to perform faster: Mileage, but I knew that going in. Gently increasing the mileage over time is the key. Event comments: Marine Corps Marathon 10k -- the best 10k EVAH!!! The tri lifestyle definitely has made me stronger -- sure beats the 57:20 I logged in my last 10k 13 yrs ago (164/197 in my AG; 1035/1392 overall). Good baseline for me to gauge for Int'l Distance triathlons. Last updated: 2009-05-20 12:00 AM
