Swim
Comments: Started off slowly unlike i did at Columbia Triathlon in May. It made all the difference as i never got out of breathe and was able to do a steady swim. I stayed wide right the whole time and didn't touch anyone. The only tough part was sighting, as the sun was right where i needed to see. I should have used my shaded goggles. Probably could have pushed it more once i passed under the 2nd bridge, but was pleased with the swim. What would you do differently?: Better swim training. I was actually a little tired getting out of the water and running to my bike. Transition 1
Comments: Wow, i was a little tired getting to my bike. Was more of a light jog than a run. Just tried to get my energy back. What would you do differently?: A little more urgency. Bike
Comments: Come out of transition and have a few tight turns to get back up to the bridge. Just tried to spin a little and get my breathe a little before hitting Front Street, then tried to pick the speed up. First extended ride in the aerobars, and was fine with them. I'm definitly getting more comfortable on the bike, and starting to figure out little things like when to get out of the saddle for a few seconds to kick it up a notch, and shifting. What would you do differently?: Just need more time in the saddle. Transition 2
Comments: Well i got off the bike stupidly and almost fell as i didn't unclip my left shoe and tried to do a flying dismount. What would you do differently?: Go faster, don't be dumb dismounting, maybe work on taking shoes off before dismount Run
Comments: need to get better at running. Hoping my half marathon in the fall and full in the spring will get me better at running. Needed to stop and stretch my calves for a few seconds at the top of the ramp before the bridge. After that, ran the whole way (which is first in a tri for me). Finished strong, but def. need better fitness on both the bike and run. What would you do differently?: training. Post race
Warm down: towel, drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: training Event comments: Enjoyed this race. My first tri in non-raining weather. First flat tri. Training with 2 kids (2 and 5 months) is tough, especially with a 1+ hour commute that i have. I need to drop 10 more pounds and think that will help as well. This is my first year in tris, so i consider this my best race so far. Will probably do this one again next year. Last updated: 2009-05-20 12:00 AM

It was almost a comedy of errors and forgetfullness. Realized i had forgotten my watch, but that's ok, i have my garmin in the car and i could use that for the run. Nope, it had low battery, only made it 10 minutes for the run. Tried a new gel since i couldnt' find my brand/flavor anywhere. That was disgusting, ended up spitting it out. Finally, as i was putting my wetsuit on, realized i didn't put any body glide on. Only needed on my neck, as it's raw now.
Also was at a friends bbq the day before, had a few beers and was up on my feet too much the day before (all day). Legs were feeling awfully tired and that worried me.
just walked up to the swim start at the north end of the island, jogged about 200 meters to get the blood flowing.
